Firm Feminism

Before I got to know more about feminism I have always had doubts about the kind of feminism that is practiced by women in Nigeria. Let me first say that feminism and gender equality are two worlds apart .

Feminism is all about women's right,  to fairness in treatment at the work place( especially in salary) ,  marriage,  rights to vote,  rights to speak up for what she believes in without being labelled 'woman talk'  , feminism is about speaking up for voiceless women eg on rape cases and domestic violence.

Nigerian women( most of them)  need to be educated on what feminism is about. I think the pain of being in terrible relationships has robbed them of their ability to think in a straight and logical way. So they come out on a mission to find the peace that was lost intentionally ,  using what they have to convince me that I do not need a man to be happy,  I am all I need,  that there is a sisterhood that is always available to open their arms to me if my relationship does not last.

I pray my relationship lasts,  as much as I would love to be by myself,  I still need a man for personal reasons,  there is a reason why a man was created and I want to explore that reason same way as I want to explore the world.

Feminism is a beautiful movement because the motive was born out of love for WOMANKIND,  This kind of love does not have a resentful undertone for the masculine gender. Feminism secures the tomorrow of that girl child who may experience difficulties in attaining greater heights because of the bias nature of the society towards women .

It is a movement for both men and women because it takes two to make a beautiful baby girl,  what you don't stop now, will stop you later.

  1. Beautiful write up.
It time women are the right to speak in the society without that tag "woman's talk ".
I think women should be educated more on feminism because some people carry it out the wrong way .
